Sweet goat whey: a new market
Sweet goat whey is a by-product of the production of (semi) hard cheese and contains valuable nutritious ingredients, such as minerals and protein. In the cow dairy industry whey is a valuable product and is widely used in baby food and sports drinks. Though the market for goat whey extract is small it is quite promising. AVH thinks that goat whey could become a successful new product in the market. In 2007, we started to analyse the possibilities for production and market and we managed to match these two. Mid 2009 the first test productions and deliveries were a fact. Since 2010 goat whey extract has been available commercially yet only in small volumes. During 2011 its production has grown and we are consulting with several producers to increase this in 2012. We will keep you informed through our website.
