Starting AVH dairy trade B.V.
AVH dairy trade B.V. is located in Heerhugowaard, in the Netherlands and founded by Monique de Wit and Arnauld van Hees in 2001. The reason for starting a business in goat and sheep dairy was the fact that Monique and Arnauld’s children appeared to suffer from cow milk allergy at a young age. Goat and sheep dairy products were the answer to that but hard to get and that eventually led to their business: exporting goat and sheep milk. The wish to create a personal and a clearly structured company matches this niche market, in which AVH dairy trade B.V. operates, well. Now, the company has developed into a more mature player in this niche market that grows quickly and explores its borders.
Transparent communication, proactive attitudes and trust
People in our team are characterised by transparent communication, proactive attitudes and trust. We like to think along; after all, doing business means working together.
We highly appreciate a close and personal contact and believe in the synergy between people and companies. Either on the phone, at fairs or during a meeting this synergy must be present to make things possible. The perfect deal is when AVH dairy trade B.V. has contributed something substantial to the chain or when we have been able to stabilise the market.
As per 1 January 2013, we have become a subsidiary of Emmi Switzerland, a big and important decision. Emmi is a dominant player in several niche markets in the international dairy world through her well-known products such as Emmentaler and Gruyère cheese but also through Caffè Latte and many different types of yogurt and desserts. Emmi has got a strong know-how, infrastructure and an extensive worldwide distribution system to which AVH has contributed its expertise and knowledge of (organic) goat and sheep dairy products.
Other affiliates active in goat dairy products and driving the Emmi global goat strategie are:
USA: Cypress Grove Chevre (2010), Redwood Hill Farm & Creamery (2015), Jackson-Mitchell, Inc. (“Meyenberg”) (2017),
Switzerland: Molkerei Biedermann (2011),
The Netherlands: Bettinehoeve (2016)
Spain: Lácteos Caprinos (2016)
Like AVH dairy trade B.V., these companies are specialists in goat and/or sheep dairy products.
